Frequently Asked Questions

What is Connected Care?

Many practices consist simply of individual practitioners in a common office.

BJC Health is different – our specialists and allied health professionals work together to ensure that your diagnosis is thorough and that related conditions are also looked after.

An in-house administration team also means that it’s easy to talk to us and ensures information about your progress is well kept, even across sites.

We call this holistic approach, Connected Care.

Whether you are referred to our specialists by a GP or you meet our allied health professionals via a walk-in visit, we’ll coordinate our expertise to offer the care most relevant to you.

What do I need to know before I visit?

There are a few things you should know before coming to visit us. Check out our handy checklist below to make sure you’re all ready for your appointment:

  • Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your initial appointment to fill out any necessary paperwork.

  • Wear something you are comfortable in, but also make sure your outfit does not restrict movement

  • Bring your Private health insurance card with you (if you have one) as we have HICAPS facilities and can help you claim your rebate immediately. Most insurance companies cover physiotherapy and remedial massage treatment but the coverage and consequent “gap” will vary with each plan.

What services do you offer?

Our unique, integrated approach—Connected Care—brings together an in-house team of rheumatologists, physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, dietitians and remedial massage therapists who work together to thoroughly diagnose and coach you through the healing process. We even have a care-coordinator to help with education of your condition and support you through your journey.

How do I start Exercise Physiology classes?

You will need to have an initial consultation with one of our Exercise Physiologists before commencing classes. They will assist you in deveoping an exercise plan that best suits you and your goals.

What if I have an urgent appointment?

If your general practitioner feels that you must be seen urgently, please ask them to ring the doctor you have been referred to directly.

We will then try to see you ASAP or redirect you if the condition is more suitably treated in an emergency department.

What is a Rheumatologist?

A Rheumatologist is a specialist physician who has expertise in diagnosing and treating arthritis, musculoskeletal conditions and other autoimmune diseases.
