Hip Osteoarthritis Explained: Treatment, Movement & Pain Relief

How can this event help me?

Hip osteoarthritis (OA) is a common condition that can affect your ability to perform daily activities, causing pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility in the hip joint. If you're managing hip OA or want to understand more about the condition, this session will provide insights into treatment options, movement strategies, and techniques for pain relief. Physiotherapist Belinda Prince and Exercise Physiologist Robyn will guide you through ways to manage symptoms, improve mobility, and enhance your overall well-being through targeted strategies.

Join Belinda and Robyn for a comprehensive session where she'll cover:

  • Understanding Hip Osteoarthritis: Learn about the underlying causes of hip OA, how wear-and-tear on the joint leads to pain and stiffness, and why certain risk factors, such as age, weight, and previous injuries, can make it more likely to develop. Understanding these elements can help you better manage symptoms.
  • Treatment Approaches: Explore both non-surgical and surgical treatment options, from medications and physical therapy to injections and joint replacement surgery, and gain clarity on which treatments might be right for your stage of osteoarthritis.
  • Movement Strategies: Discover how targeted exercises can help support the hip joint, improve function, and reduce discomfort. Robyn and Belinda will demonstrate practical techniques designed to strengthen the surrounding muscles, enhance mobility, and promote long-term joint health.
  • Pain Management Techniques: Understand a variety of practical strategies to manage hip pain, including joint protection methods, appropriate use of heat or cold therapy, and lifestyle adjustments to minimise discomfort throughout the day.
  • Maintaining Mobility: Get expert guidance on staying active and continuing daily activities despite hip OA. Belinda and Robyn will share tips on modifying movements like walking, bending, and climbing stairs to protect your hips and maintain independence.

This session is ideal for anyone looking to improve their hip health or better manage the symptoms of hip osteoarthritis, whether you're newly diagnosed or have been living with hip OA for some time. Join us on Wednesday, June 11th at 8:00 PM AEST for this live virtual event. As always, we welcome your questions and discussions to make this an engaging and supportive experience for everyone.
