About Shivani Bista

Gregariousness and professionalism are the keys to harmonize my college and work environment. I often engage myself in social events whenever possible with family and friends. I am a passionate learner and I give my best at what I do. I love to be actively involved in conversation, no matter how small. I see problems as challenges and love to solve them with effectiveness and efficiency.

“Friendly, honest and caring” – these are not my word's but I’m sure you will use them often to describe me after we meet. My service has been acknowledged several times by BJC Health with awards such as Champion of Customer Service (2011), Admin Team Member of the Year (2011), and with many gift cards and lunches. In saying that, the greatest reward for me is the motivation and encouragement I have received from my workplace to stay fit and live healthily.

I am currently studying part-time at University of Western Sydney enrolled in a Bachelor of Business & Commerce, majoring in Human Resource. Despite juggling study and work, I always give priority to improve my performance at work and maintaining relationships with clients. I am proud to be one of many “special” additions to BJC Health, a mentor and a friend. I assure you that you will see me grow with “Connected Care” in years to come.

Clinical Trials in Rheumatology

How can this event help me?

Clinical trials play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of rheumatic conditions and improving treatment options. If you're interested in learning more about how clinical trials work and their impact on the treatment landscape for conditions like arthritis, this session will provide insights into the current clinical trial process and how it relates to rheumatology. Rheumatologist Dr. Andrew Jordan will guide you through the importance of clinical trials, how they are conducted, and how you can participate in them.

Join Dr. Andrew Jordan for an informative session where he'll cover:

  • What Are Clinical Trials?: Understand the role of clinical trials in the development of new treatments, including how they help researchers test the safety and effectiveness of new drugs or therapies for rheumatic conditions.
  • The Clinical Trial Process: Explore the phases of clinical trials, from early-stage studies to large-scale trials, and learn how each phase contributes to the approval of new treatments.
  • Importance for Rheumatology: Discover how clinical trials are helping to advance rheumatology, with a focus on conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and osteoarthritis.
  • How to Participate: Learn about the process for enrolling in clinical trials, what to expect during participation, and the potential benefits and risks involved. Dr. Jordan will discuss how patients with rheumatic conditions can get involved in trials.
  • Ethics and Safety: Gain a better understanding of the ethical guidelines that protect participants and ensure that clinical trials are conducted safely and responsibly.

Whether you're interested in understanding more about clinical trials in rheumatology or considering participation in one, this session will provide valuable information to guide your decisions. Join us on Wednesday, August 20th at 8:00 PM AEST for this live virtual event. As always, we welcome your questions and discussions to make this an engaging and supportive experience for everyone.
